Whilst heavy rainfall and battling winds were the story of the day at the New Korea Country Club, Colombian Mariajo Uribe was able to move to the top of the leaderboard at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Korea.

Whilst heavy rainfall and battling winds were the story of the day at the New Korea Country Club, Colombian Mariajo Uribe was able to move to the top of the leaderboard at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Korea.

The call to suspend play came at 5.30pm local time, with Uribe holding a one stroke lead over South Korean superstar Hyo-Joo Kim – who once again attracted the crowds of Seoul.

Uribe’s eagle on the 17th hole par-five moved her top of the leaderboard, chipping in from the edge of the green to move to six-under-par, before dropping a shot on the next hole.

For those with the earlier tee times, there was the chance to reach the clubhouse before the severe weather really kicked in – with Danielle Kang’s team capitalising on this opportunity.

Despite a tough couple of days resulting in a likely missed cut for Danielle Kang, it was all smiles at the end of her round, as she heaped praise on her team – who helped to contribute to the team's score of 23-under-par.

Aided by Lily May Humprehys, Tian Xiolin, and amateur Kyu Ho Lee, a blistering second day score of 16-under-par ensured they were early clubhouse leaders, as the wind continued to pick up in Seoul.

“I had some of the best teammates,” said Kang after her round. “I mean, we had spirit we had good play, and our amateur crushed it today.

Danielle Kang - Leading Team Captain

“It's just been a really good bonding experience, and all I cared about was just trying to win the team event this week. So, we’re here with a three-shot lead, and that’s really exciting.”

Team Uribe stands the best chance of catching Team Kang, however, with the Colombian’s team just five shots back, with eight holes still to play on Sunday morning.

Elsewhere, World No.8 Charley Hull is keeping herself in contention, standing at one-under-par having played just nine holes, set to resume in the morning.

Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup followed up a round of even par on Friday with a one-under-par on Saturday, as she looks to follow on from a strong performance at the Australia Women’s Classic – where severe rain cut short her chance of a win after just one day, finishing the suspended event T1.

Play will begin again at 6.45am on Sunday at New Korea Country Club, with a much clearer forecast welcome news for the field.
