Three lucky golfers win spots in Aramco Team Series New York

After a qualifying tournament hosted at Trump Links at Ferry Point, three young female amateurs earned their spot to play in the field.

The Aramco Team Series has given three lucky golfers the chance to play in this week’s event in New York after a Saturday qualifying tournament saw the best golfers from the tri-state area, and beyond, compete for the opportunity.

Aliea Clark, Jenny Rosenberg and Cailyn Rogers led the field at Trump Links Ferry Point, where this week’s Aramco Team Series New York event, part of the Ladies European Tour, will take place and claimed the top three spots and the incredible opportunity to compete as a championship amateur in the tournament.

12 of the best amateur golfers teed it up on Saturday with a selection of females from local colleges and golf clubs involved. The tournament formed part of the Aramco Power Up initiative which aims to embrace female empowerment and provide life changing opportunities for female golfers around the world.

Clark topped the leaderboard with a one-over par 73 and previously played college golf with Bronte Law and Alison Lee at UCLA. She will now hope to be reunited with Law tomorrow evening when the teams are selected for this week’s event.

She commented: “That was so much fun playing out there with these girls. It is so cool that the Aramco Team Series is offering these three spots to play as a championship amateur in the tournament and give female golfers the chance to experience what it is like to play in a professional golf event.

“ I know Bronte and Alison well from playing with them at UCLA and they have both won an individual title in these tournaments, so they obviously speak very highly of them. Bronte is here this week so hopefully we can play together again and have some fun on the course like in college ”

Rosenberg will also join the field as a championship amateur for the Thursday and Friday team event after shooting a gross score of 74. She was a two-time all-American conference golfer at Tulane University and qualified for the match play at the 2022 U.S Women’s Amateur Championship.

The final spot was handed to Cailyn Rogers after a 3-over par 75. Rogers was the youngest of the entrants and is still in high school but battled the tough winds to clinch an opportunity to play as a championship amateur this week.

Not many sports events give opportunities like these but also give sports fans the chance to witness the stars of the game for a price as reasonable as $5 for adults and free for U16s. Spectators will have the opportunity to see American superstars, the Korda sisters and Lexi Thompson, as well as Canadian Brooke Henderson, and English household name, Charley Hull up close.
